Welcome To Our Classroom

We are a 1st Grade classroom and we are located in Rochester, Michigan.  Rochester is about 30 miles north of Detroit.  The name of our school is McGregor Elementary School.  McGregor is a K-5 building.  We have four first grade classrooms at McGregor.  Our school mascot is a cougar.  One of the ways that teachers get our attention is to shout, "Cougars" and everyone replies, "Keep calm and Cougar on!"

Here are some of the things that we enjoy doing in our classroom and at school:
  • Daily 5
  • Math Rotations
  • Brain Breaks using Go Noodle
  • Classroom Celebrations-Face Painting, Bring Your Own Device, Stuffed Animal Day
  • Writing Workshop
  • Specials Classes-Gym, Music, Art and Library
  • Playing math games on the computer
  • Using the wireless laptops
  • Sitting on our new Stability Balls
  • The Fun Run
  •  Recess
  • Brain Pop Jr.

    We really enjoyed reading about your class and your school. We also have a mascot that is a big cat. Ours is the panther. We saw that you play games on the computer at math time. Do you do a mystery number? We do that every day.

    We have so much in common with you. We do the Daily 5 and Writers Workshop every morning. How many minutes are you reading to self? We also have a twitter account and we hope to start following your tweets. We have questions about the stability balls? We don't have any chairs in our classroom. Have a great Tuesday.

    Wow! We think it's great that you are reading for 25 minutes. We are working hard to get there. We are sitting on the floor and sometimes mats. Our tables are really low to the ground and we move around a lot. Our mascot is a rocket ship and we call ourselves explorers. Ms. Meck's Class
